About Yirwa

Yirwa was born from a clear idea: to help nurses feel fulfilled, to progress, and to enjoy their careers. Because I've seen, heard, and lived the difficulties that many BAME nurses face, but I also know they can be overcome. And with the right support, they can become great opportunities.

That's why at Yirwa we specialise in what we do best: supporting nurses like you at every step of your professional development. Whether it's to grow, to adapt, to prepare for that promotion, or to embark on a new adventure. And we do it with warmth, with experience, and with a genuine desire to see you shine.

Career Coaching

With career coaching, we help you design a plan tailored to you, a promotion, a change of speciality, a leadership role, and give you the tools to make it happen.

Mentoring

With mentoring, we guide you through your adaptation to the NHS, uncovering the unwritten rules and giving you the keys to move with confidence within the system.

Interview Coaching

With interview coaching, we prepare you so you can walk into your interview with confidence, knowing exactly what to say and how to say it.

International placements

And for those looking for something more, wherever you come from, whatever your experience, we've created a programme I always wish I'd had: international placements in The Gambia, my home country. A unique opportunity to experience a different culture, broaden your perspective as a nurse, and connect with other ways of understanding healthcare. An experience that will enrich your career and transform you as a person.

If you're ready to take the next step, I'm here. Let's talk, with no obligation, and discover together how I can help you.

Lived experience

I've been where you are. I know the system, the barriers, and the way through.

Complete support

Not just advice. Coaching, mentoring, interview prep, and application help all in one.

For BAME nurses

Designed with your challenges in mind, but open to any nurse ready to grow.

The founder

Aisa's Story

My name is Aisa Jabbi. I am a Nurse Manager with over a decade of experience across two healthcare systems, Spain and the NHS. I am also a Black African woman with Gambian heritage, and I know what it means to navigate a system that wasn't designed for you.

I arrived in England in 2014 with €250 in my pocket, basic English, and a determination to build a life in a country I had never visited. I had no connections, no safety net, and no clear roadmap. The reality I encountered was far from what I had imagined. Cultural and professional differences, and the weight of starting from zero made me question my decision within weeks.

But something changed. I saw a side of nursing I had never known existed, a system that offered autonomy, growth, and opportunity. That moment reshaped my entire career.

Over the next eight years, I worked across Respiratory Medicine, ICU, MAU, and specialist roles. I navigated agency work and leadership positions. I progressed from Band 5 to Band 6 in seven years, and to Band 7 in my eighth. Each step taught me not just clinical skills, but the unwritten rules of the NHS, how it works, how to move within it, and how to thrive in it.

Today, I am a Nurse Manager and the founder of Yirwa Nursing Guidance. I created Yirwa because I know, from lived experience, the challenges that BAME nurses face: feeling undervalued, not knowing how to progress, struggling to adapt, and often feeling invisible. I also know that with the right guidance, these challenges can be overcome.

I don't just offer advice. I offer the support I wish I had when I started. I walk alongside nurses who are where I once was: talented, ambitious, and searching for a way forward. Whether it's preparing for an interview, navigating the NHS, or planning a career path, my mission is to help nurses not just survive, but thrive.

I believe that your background is not a barrier, it's a strength. And I'm here to help you see that too.
